Laurel Solutions is both the name my virtual business consulting company and this blog. This will be a place where I can discuss my personal views on virtual worlds and businesses within them.
The reason I chose the name Laurel Solutions is because I have always felt that you can not rest on your laurels for too long. You can not get comfortable because life in virtual worlds much like the real world is constantly changing. Virtual businesses have to start with a plan that will allow them to achieve their laurels; but not rest on them. Because if one gets comfortable in their position or if they get content with their achievements... and they do not try new things, they may be left behind. You can not rest on your laurels... you have to constantly be searching for new directions.
When I checked dictionary.com for the definition of laurel I found one of the definitions to stand out from the rest:
"look to one's laurels, to be alert to the possibility of beingexcelled or surpassed: New developments in the industry are forcinglong-established firms to look to their laurels. "
Your laurels are important when the possibility of being passed over and beaten by your competitors exists. Even if you have achieved success their is no guarantee that it will continue, unless you invest in educating and developing yourself, and ultimately your virtual business. The goal of Laurel Solutions Business Consulting is to help you achieve new laurels by giving you the tools and information you need to succeed.
